Easy 3,000M mountains
Based in the charming Freissinières valley in a comfortable hotel, we’ll explore the area from the Italian border to the deep valleys of the Écrins, climbing a peak over 3,000 metres high every day. La Condamine, La Tête de Vautisse, L’Étoile de Dormillouse… Depending on the conditions, we’ll choose a new peak each day.
A blaze of autumn colours in the Écrins
Up in the mountains, autumn has already arrived; the landscape is peaceful, with the first snows blanketing the peaks, yet the temperatures are still mild and the light is stunning. This is our favourite season, when the larch—the king of the Southern Alps—is decked out in its finest colours, in every shade of golden yellow and orange. It is this season, usually overlooked by hikers, that we want to introduce you to during a five-day hike through the wilds of larch country in the heart of the Écrins.
